Blake D. McKenna

Mr. McKenna was appointed Executive Vice President and Chief Operating Officer in January 2026. He joined SM Energy as Senior Vice President - Strategic Planning and Corporate Reserves in April 2025 and was subsequently appointed Senior Vice President - Texas in May 2025. Mr. McKenna previously co-founded and served as President and Chief Operating Officer at XCL Resources.

Mr. McKenna has more than 19 years of experience in the energy industry. Prior to XCL Resources, Mr. McKenna was with Vitesse Energy and EOG Resources, serving in several roles of increasing responsibility including production engineering, completion engineering and reservoir engineering in conventional and unconventional fields across many different basins.
