In October 2024, the Company acquired assets in the Uinta Basin, Utah. Located predominantly in the core, over-pressured oil window of the region, the assets add substantial scale with ~63,300 net acres and high oil-content production.
Located in northeast Utah, the Uinta Basin reached its current configuration during the Laramide Orogeny, but its sedimentary history extends back to the Paleozoic Era. With three plays actively being tested, delineated or developed by operators within the basin, SM Energy is focused on the oil-rich unconventional reservoirs in the Wasatch and Green River formations. Their combined 4,000 feet of over-pressured stacked pay provides multiple source rock and reservoir benches with as many as 17 potential targets. We see tremendous opportunity in this oil-rich play!
